Arriving in Boston/Woods Hole

Those arriving in Boston on Thursday, October 31st should make arrangements with their hosts regarding times and places to meet. On Friday, November 1st, those who are not being picked up directly from the airport or train station (this would have been indicated via email) will have to make their way to the MIT campus to find their assigned transportation to Woods Hole.

The MIT campus is located at the Kendall/MIT stop on the Red Line of Boston’s MBTA subway system (see map below):

The best way to get to MIT from the airport is to catch the free Silver Line bus from outside the lower level (baggage claim) of each terminal. This bus provides a free transfer into the subway system at South Station, from which point you can catch the Red Line to Kendall/MIT (look for the Inbound train in the direction of Alewife). Those arriving via train will have to purchase a $3 farecard to board the subway at South Station.

Please make a note of your assigned transportation to Woods Hole (this information has been emailed to you). Many groups, including the shuttle bus, will be picking up passengers on Ames St., as shown below:

The other location of note is the EAPS department, which is located in Building 54 on the above map. This is the tall building with the giant RADAR dome on top of it. A few people will be leaving from this location– check your email.

Participants who are driving to the conference should proceed directly to the Clark building on WHOI’s Quisset Campus for conference registration.
